oops..not sure if I should have done this..sorry it is late... just home from driving 2 hours each way to teach at Fort Hood,Central Texas campus..this is my fav chair....
It was always in my studio till it broke and is no longer here(2 years ago) ..thus this standard pic from the internet....I did have it for almost 30 years though....and I had not thought of it till you asked the question..so now I need to replace it.lol
My Grandfather has almost this exact rocker on the screened in back patio in the Bel-Air neighborhood of Houston. when I was a kid it looked out on an empty field that he planted lemon trees in, we could open the back fence, waste high chain link, and pick them for lemon-aid. This past year a medium rise apartment building went up as the area continues to be gentrified. Kind of makes me sick to think about....
Do you own this one? Great photo if you do! I really like those rolled edges, when I think of rocking chairs I most often think of splayed legs attached to rounded bottoms. This one feels more like a whole "piece," however, and I appreciate that.
Not anymore..mine was all worn out and fell apart....unfortunately...this pic is from the internet..I replaced this rocker with one from Craker Barrel....but it is outside and serves a different function..oh well
My husband gave me a rocker like this for our first Christmas after we got married. It was so comfortable and I wore it out! This design makes for a great rock. I really want another one.

There is something so special about rocking chairs. They are so comforting to me and when I come across one, I just have the urge to sit in it. I can just see that one on a porch on a breezy summer day.

ReplyDeleteThis is fine. You only needed to describe it but a photo works. Where do you have it in your home?
